T-MODEL FORD

James Lewis Carter Ford (born in Forest, Mississippi, 1924) is an American blues musician better known by his stage name, T-Model Ford. Unable to remember his exact date of birth, he began his musical career in his early seventies and has continuously recorded for the Fat Possum Records label.

His musical style melds traditional Chicago blues and juke joint blues styles with the rawness of Delta blues and the rebellious attitude of 1970s-style punk. Alternately known as "The Taildragger", Ford, in reference to his age, has been known to tell studio musicians, "T-Model Ford is going to remember you sorry fuckers how it's done!"

T-Model's credentials are impeccable; if anything he's over qualified.

JOHN OTWAY AND
WILD WILLY BARRETT

The enigmatic, madcap John Otway first came to prominence in the early 70s with his guitar and fiddle-playing partner, Wild Willy Barrett. Otway's animated performances and unusual vocal style caught the attention of Pete Townshend, who produced the duo's first two Track label singles, "Murder Man" and "Louisa On A Horse".

Extensive gigging, highlighted by crazed and highly entertaining stage performances, won Otway and Barrett a loyal collegiate following and finally a minor hit with "Cor Baby That's Really Free" in 1977. Its b-side, "Beware Of The Flowers ('Cause I'm Sure They're Going To Get You Yeh)", was equally appealing and eccentric, and augured well for further hits.

Wild Willy Barrett is one of the most accomplished multi-instrumentalists working today, playing acoustic classical guitar with an original style and virtuosity few could match. His musical style is witty and his humour onstage is dry.

“Manic energy and the possibility of physical injury during renditions of songs, will leave observers both in awe, if not a little shell-shocked.”

BONBON!

Brighton’s biggest and most brazen burlesque troupe present Bonbon! their sweetest and most intimate evening of tease, frippery and frolics yet!

The Boutique Theatre is a Brighton based performance and production company who aim to promote traditionally inspired burlesque performance showcases with a contemporary twist. Project Managers Suzie McGinness and Wil Jones have brought together an experienced team of performers, musicians, producers, directors and designers from across the region to create Boutique, who are now the largest and most successful burlesque troupe on the south coast.

Shows are targeted at a modern metrosexual Brighton theatre, cabaret and club audience.  the evening is designed to be an intelligent, thought provoking, sexy and titillating experience with a provocatively edgy yet camp tone.

Each evening has its own unique flavour, as Boutique continue to rotate its programme, introducing new acts and commissioning established artists to create new work.  We also provide a guest platform for visiting artists to present new work from outside the region.

Costume and design are integral to the environment and feel of the evening, and take the audience on a journey back to the boudoir of Madame de Collier de Perlier.  The dressing of the environment and costume recreates the atmosphere of traditional burlesque theatres and performance.  To enhance the mood of their experience, audience members are encouraged to attend dressed in their finest burlesque costumes.

The evening is targeted to prime and arouse a pre club audience, both male and female, gay, lesbian or straight, though the evening has proven to be as accessible to a more traditional cabaret and theatre audience.

NICK CAVE

Nick Cave's career has spanned many artistic disciplines and he is internationally renowned as a singer, songwriter, performer, script writer and novelist. From the 80s Australian post punk group The Birthday Party, to his legendary band Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, `that infamous duet’ with Kylie Minogue and 2006's newly formed band Grinderman with  Bad Seeds Warren Ellis, Martyn Casey and Jim Sclavunos, Cave has never followed the orthodox approach. His music is steeped in mystery, sensuality, wit and irreverence.

Nick’s writing career began with his debut novel And the Ass Saw the Angel which was published in 1989. His new book The Death of Bunny Munro is published by Canongate. Bunny sells beauty products and the dream of hope to the lonely housewives of the south coast of England. Set adrift by his wife’s suicide and struggling to keep a grip on reality, Bunny does the only thing he can think of: he hits the road, with his nine-year-old son in tow.
