Acclaimed by music critics as one of the finest period-instrument orchestras in the world, The Hanover Band has established an unrivalled reputation for the excellence of its performances and recordings of 18th and 19th century music. The orchestra has recently made two new appointments, Paul Brough becoming Principal Conductor and Andrew Arthur Associate Director, with immediate effect. Their list of principal conductors & guest directors over previous years reads like a Who’s Who of period instrument interpretation – Monica Huggett, Sir Charles Mackerras, Roy Goodman, Anthony Halstead, Nicholas McGegan, Richard Egarr, Nicholas Kraemer, Graham Lea-Cox, Jeffrey Skidmore & Adrian Butterfield.
Appearing at some of the great auditoriums around the world, including New York’s Carnegie Hall, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Bridgewater Hall, Manchester, South Bank Centre, Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall London. The orchestra has toured the UK extensively, made ten tours of the United States and has performed in Canada, Mexico, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France, Portugal, Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, Greece & Turkey. Resident at The Old Market, Hove, a Grade II listed building established in its own right as a vibrant arts and education venue, The Hanover Band has a long-term strategy to bring musical excellence to the South East of England and develop community links through an extensive education programme.
